Surge in Tourists at Kaziranga National Park After PM Modi’s Visit
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a two-day visit to Assam where he enjoyed an overnight stay at the Kaziranga National Park. Visiting the national park on a jeep and elephant safari, he explored the park’s flora and fauna and even interacted with the frontline staff that guards the park’s wildlife.
Ever since his visit, Kaziranga National Park has been seeing an increase in the number of its visitors. Being the first Prime Minister of the country to spend a night at the national park, he has been influential in this incoming surge of tourists to the state of Assam, becoming a boon to the state’s tourism.
The state government of Assam, along with implementing suggestions by the PM himself, has also signed a MoU with the Tata Group for the establishment of a luxury hotel in Kaziranga. The five-star hotel is budgeted at 120 crore rupees and will be built in the Hathikuli Tea Garden within Kaziranga. Once operational, the project is set to generate more than 200 direct employment opportunities as well. Along with the luxury hotel planned for Kaziranga, the Tata Group is also planning to set up a Taj Gateway Hotel between Guwahati and Jagiroad.
With the establishment of luxury hotels and stays, the state government hopes to see a further increase in the number of tourists visiting Assam.
