Kaziranga Receives an Early New Year’s Gift: Rare Golden Tiger Cub Spotted in Kaziranga National Park

Just a couple of days ahead of New Year's Eve, Kaziranga National Park gave wildlife enthusiasts a reason to pre-celebrate. On 25th December the internet buzzed with the news of a rare tiger sighting in Kaziranga. A mother Tigress was spotted with three cubs during a jungle safari in the park.

Although the new litter in the park is itself a great cause for celebration, the wildlife lovers immediately noticed a golden-hued cub among them. This news attracted the spotlight as the Golden Tigers are a much rare color variant of the Bengal tiger species. They have pale golden fur with red-brown stripes, which for now have only been observed in Kaziranga National Park.

As these cubs were spotted by visitors during a Jeep Safari in the Park, it indicates the high chances of rare wildlife sightings in Kaziranga National Park. In fact, Kaziranga is already popular for amazing tiger sightings for its high tiger population density. The fact that half of the total area of Kaziranga is covered by the Brahmaputra River, the remaining landmass gives visitors a high ground for wildlife sightings here.

A golden tiger was also sighted in Kaziranga last year and this litter is speculated to be his offspring. In any case, the presence of these rare golden tigers in Kaziranga will only bring good fortune for wildlife tourism in the park.
