Assam Featured in The New York Times’ list of 52 Places to Go in 2025
The gateway of North-Eastern India, Assam, is not only emerging as a popular travel destination among locals but also international travel enthusiasts. In a recent article "52 Best Places to Go in 2025" published by The New York Times, Assam appeared as a travel destination ranking at fourth place. The article briefly discusses the multitude of things to experience in Assam, especially Charaideo Moidams.
Charaideo Moidams is the burial site of kings, Queens, and Nobles from the Ahom Dynasty that ruled the region of Assam for nearly 600 years starting in the 13th Century. The burial spots in Charaideo Moidams are unique big mounds that were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2024.
The author also mentions Assam's diverse experiences to have in Assam from witnessing world-famous Tea gardens to a wildlife safari in Kaziranga National Park. Kaziranga has the largest population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros in the world and is one of the top destinations for Assam tourism.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has steadily worked on highways, power projects, the Brahmaputra river bridge, and Urban area development. These recent infrastructure improvements are also the reason Assam secured a spot in the list of 52 best places in the world to visit in 2025.
