Kaziranga National Park, The Wildlife Paradise, Continues Attracting Record-Breaking Tourist Influx in 2025

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the state of Assam, has set a record. The park received the highest number of tourists in the last twenty years, with 1,64,000 plus visitors between October and December 2024, while the influx is continuing in January 2025 too. This is an excellent recovery and a sign of increasing global interest in tourism in Assam.

Primarily known for the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga has emerged as a multi-faceted tourism product. One of the major attractions of this season has been the boat safaris on the Brahmaputra River where tourists can get a chance to see the endangered river dolphins. These safaris alone attracted more than 2200 tourists of which 800 were foreigners, a factor that shows the international demand for these services.

However, there is more to Kaziranga than its wild animals and birds. The new attractions include bird watching, cycling, and trekking, in addition to the conventional jeep and elephant back tours. The park has beautiful vegetation cover and is a habitat for tigers, elephants, swamp deer, and many bird species, making it an ideal place for nature lovers.

The increase in tourism can also be attributed to the stable socio-political situation in Assam and more emphasis on promoting Assam as a world tourism destination. Moreover, the notable visits by dignitaries like the King and Prime Minister of Bhutan and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought more focus to Kaziranga as a conservation and tourism destination.

While Assam is opening up to new tourism policies, Kaziranga is setting its dominance among the best places to visit in Assam with its unique features and amazing experiences.
