Kaziranga National Park Opens for 2017-18 Tourists Season
The national park of Assam, Kaziranga, famed for the majestic one-horned rhinos has finally opened its premises for the 2017-18 tourists season. Pramila Rani Brahma, Assam Forest Minister along with the Agriculture Minister, Atul Bora and Jayanta Malla Baruah, the chairman of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation inaugurated the Kaziranga National Park on 2 October. Keeping the 2017 puja holiday season in mind, the park will remain open from 2 October exceeding up-to 30 May 2018.
In the initial stage of the reopening, only Bagori and Kohora range of the park will be in use for jeep and elephant safaris, as some ranges are still unsuitable, due to the massive flood that killed around 430 animals, severely damaging the infrastructure in the 2017 monsoon. However, there has been speculations stating that the remaining park that covers an area of 430 sq.km will start operating from 11 October 2017.
